Short notes for whoever visits next. A browser extension shows what people left on the page you're reading, and lets you leave your own.
Soapstone is built on atproto, the protocol behind Bluesky. You sign in with a handle you already have, and every message you write is stored as a record in your own repository — not in a database here. This site runs an index over the public firehose so that messages become findable by the page they were left on. Delete a message from your repo and it disappears from here too.
The extension never sends the appview a URL. It sends a SHA-256 hash of it, so pages that have no messages — nearly everything you browse — leave nothing behind that can be read back.
